Girdwood Chiropractic
Clinic "Personalized Gentle Care for Optimal
Health"
A personal message from
Dr. Rosemary Zimmerman:
"My goal as a chiropractic physician is to provide the
highest quality gentle chiropractic care, using the latest
technology and specific non-force manipulation techniques to
insure the best response to treatment. I seek to provide the
most effective integrated team approach by keeping up with
the latest continuing education and working with other
medical specialties. In addition to specific non-force
orthopedic adjustments, I will offer nutritional support,
physiotherapy and rehabilitation to help each patient
return to optimal health in the shortest period of
time.
I want to take the time to
listen to each patient's concerns and questions in a caring
and supportive environment. Treatment programs are
customized for each patient per their specific requirements
and goals. I offer preventative wellness care programs to
optimize mobility and flexibility, in an effort to improve
sports performance, as well as fast pain relief. I want each
patient to have a positive experience, which meets their
specific individualized needs, so they in turn will educate
others of the direct benefits they have received.
After 18 years of
practice, I chose to redirect my career by offering the
community of Girdwood professional, quality care in a caring
and healing environment."
Chiropractic is a primary
natural health care profession which does not incorporate
the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractors are trained in
standard procedures including history taking, physical,
orthopedic and neurologic exams, x-ray/diagnostic imaging,
and lab diagnosis. Because of its effect on many conditions,
the spine is carefully analyzed. Posture and muscle
imbalances are also assessed during a comprehensive
evaluation.
Dr. Zimmerman believes
that chiropractic care can address muscle and joint pain and
assist in treating a wide range of other health issues. Her
primary focus is to relieve pain and optimize health by
offering chiropractic in conjunction with dietary support,
physiotherapy and exercise. She has a special focus on
preventive health care. She employs nutritional counseling,
stress release, and rehabilitation. She especially enjoys
working with athletes.
Chiropractic adjustments
are the main method of treatment at Girdwood Chiropractic
Clinic/Center. They are highly effective in treating
neuromusculoskeletal disorders and can assist in the
treatment of many other conditions.
Dr. Zimmerman utilizes a
number of chiropractic techniques in order to fit her
patients' needs: Diversified, Activator, Gonstead, Motion
Palpation and SOT. She has seen patients ranging in age from
birth to 87 years young, and from all
professionals.
Treatments may
include:
balance and coordination
chiropractic manipulation
diet counsel or supplementation
dynamic spinal rehabilitation
electrical muscle stimulation
ergonomics evaluation
heat/cold
massage therapy
muscle re-education
personalized exercises
soft tissue techniques
specialist referrals
stress management
trigger point therapy
ultrasound
Rehabilitation
Girdwood Chiropractic Clinic has an established
rehabilitation center in which patients learn exercises to
improve flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Dr.
Zimmerman is the only chiropractor in the state of Alaska
who has attained a Diplomate with The American Chiropractic
Board of Sports Physicians. She implements the latest
research to help her patients receive the best results from
treatment. The goal of rehabilitation is to minimize pain
and maximize function.
Physiotherapy
A variety of therapies are used at Girdwood Chiropractic
Clinic to speed the healing process and improve patient
comfort. These include: electrical muscle stimulation, heat
or ice, muscle relaxation techniques, spinal traction,
therapeutic ultrasound, and trigger point therapy. Referral
for acupuncture and massage therapy is also available. These
are used in combination with chiropractic adjustments to
provide the most effective treatment.
Nutrition
Nutrition is very important in the development and
maintenance of many illnesses. Dr. Zimmerman advises
patients on diet changes they may need to make. When
appropriate, she also recommends nutritional supplements to
reduce pain, speed recovery or promote overall health. In
some cases, Dr. Zimmerman will order blood tests to
determine specific nutritional deficiencies.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a natural form of health care and an
excellent adjunct to chiropractic care. It eases muscle
tension and pain, improves circulation, and eliminates
muscular waste. It provides important support for improved
flexibility and joint range of motion.
A session typically lasts
30-60 minutes, and is performed in a private, professional
setting. Done prior to treatment, massage provides excellent
preparation for chiropractic manipulation of the joints. It
is a very relaxing "mini-vacation" for patients.
